Guiding You Through The Complex Alimony Process
Florida’s alimony laws are very complicated. If you are going through a divorce and might need to seek or pay alimony, you should have the counsel of an experienced attorney to guide you.
At South Florida Legal Rescue, LLC, I can help you. My name is Jennifer H. Milne. Since founding my firm, I have served the people of the Delray Beach region by providing exceptional and affordable legal services. As a divorce lawyer with more than 20 years of experience, I have helped hundreds of dependent and supporting spouses secure fair alimony arrangements. I look forward to helping you, too.
Alimony In Florida: What To Know
Florida offers five varieties of spousal support. These include:
- Permanent (note, however, that Governor DeSantis is considering signing a bill into law to end permanent alimony in Florida)
- Durational
- Bridge-the-gap
- Rehabilitative
A judge considers several factors when issuing an alimony decision, including:
- Each spouse’s income
- Each spouse’s earning potential
- The duration of the marriage
- The contribution of each spouse to the marital assets
- The separate assets of each spouse
You have the option of negotiating an alimony settlement privately with your ex. However, I understand that this is nether beneficial nor possible in some relationships. Some cases require litigation in family court, in which case I draw from my considerable skill in litigating family law cases.
Compassion When You Need It The Most
Alimony can become one of the most stressful, bitter parts of dissolving a marriage. I understand – I have helped hundreds of people in your situation. Helping you feel at ease is every bit as important to me as handling the legal side of things. At every step of your case, I make sure that you feel comfortable enough to discuss matters in-depth and ask any questions you have.
